The arithmetic

Flat fee against a 10–15% commission.

Traditional brokers commonly charge 10–15% of the sale price on small business sales. Here is what that range means at four sale prices, next to a $10,000 flat fee.

If the business sold for

Typical broker commission (10–15%)

$100,000 – $150,000

SimpleExit flat fee

$10,000

Difference in fees at $1,000,000

$90,000 – $140,000

A comparison of fee structures, not a quote or a promise. It uses the 10–15% range traditional brokers commonly charge on small business sales; actual rates, minimums and retainers vary by broker and deal, and percentages often step down on larger sales. SimpleExit does not promise a sale, a buyer or a price.

Hypothetical example

An owner with a $1,000,000 plumbing business.

A hypothetical owner sells a plumbing business for $1,000,000. Compare the fees under a 10% commission with a retainer against the SimpleExit flat fee.

It assumes the same sale price either way, which is an assumption, not a prediction. It ignores taxes and other closing costs. Your result depends on your business, the market and the buyers who come forward.

FAQ

Questions about the fee

How much does SimpleExit cost?
$10,000, flat. It covers the investment memo and marketing materials, the multi-platform listing, buyer matching, NDA collection, inquiry handling and weekly reporting.
Is there a success fee or commission when I sell?
No. SimpleExit charges a flat fee, not a commission. There is no success fee and no percentage of your sale price, whether the business sells for $500,000 or $5,000,000.
What is not included in the flat fee?
Optional support reviewing letters of intent and purchase agreements is priced separately, and only if you ask for it. Legal, tax and accounting advice, and your own closing costs, are outside the service.
How and when is the fee paid?
In two parts: $5,000 when you sign, and $5,000 when your marketing materials are complete, before the listing goes live. Nothing is due at the sale, whatever the business sells for.
Why is a flat fee cheaper than a broker?
Traditional brokers commonly charge 10–15% of the sale price on small business sales. On a $1,000,000 sale that is $100,000 to $150,000. SimpleExit's fee is $10,000 whatever the price, because you run the buyer conversations and negotiation yourself.
